  11. Recently, I purchased a USR Sportster 33.6k external and whenever I try 
  12. to connect with a 28.8k Motorola lifestyle modem, the connection is 
  13. always stuck at the initial handshake sequence with the modem emitting a 
  14. annoying monotonous static tone. The problem stopped when I set my 
  15. Sportster's register to S32=0 but the connection is reduced to 14.4k. 
  16. Anyone knows what's the problem here?

  18. I believe the problem lies with the Motorola as connection with other USR 
  19. modems gave me connections around 28.8k or 31.2k.
